This piece is based on a photograph by Edward Curtis. He was an American photographer, 1868-1952. His primary focus was Native American people. I created this piece from his photograph of an Arikara Native American titled Bear's Belly. His story is documented how he came about the bear skin he wears. It is quite a fascinating story! He came across not one bear but three. The slashing black and white background and the red and yellow colors show the violence and chaos associate with this story. The black around his face draws you closer and shows how he hides in the shadows. Accents of blue, green, white and silver accentuate the energy running thru and around Bear's Belly. This is a Very Large , very striking painting at 3 feet by 3 feet. It is the highest quality gallery wrapped canvas which means the canvas wraps over the sides. There is a quote from Bear's Belly I wrote on the sides of the painting. Ready to Hang right out of the box. Makes a Very Bold statement.
